Thelin Gnome Pellet Stove fan problem

Nov 16, 2018 - 7:19 PM

  • I am having trouble with the fan in my Thelin Gnome pellet stove. The fan runs when the selector switch is switched to the clean position, but when in high, medium or low is seems to be running very slow. I was wondering if the brushes may need to be replaced or do I need to replace the fan motor. Also how would i know if it is a Pittman or ExMec motor, or are the interchangeable.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hello
The Pitman or ExMek fan motors are interchangeable.
The problem sounds like it may be in the selector switch itself.

  • I've got the same issue right now. I actually had motor surges and I replaced the brushes which needed to be replaced. The stove ran great for 3 days and I am now having this exact issue that Robert has posted. I've read where it can be the circuit board based on the thelin repair manual or the fan. Given that both are expensive I'm trying the new fan first. Robert was your issue solved and if so what was it ?

  • Hi Tony
Sounds like you need a new fan assembly. It appears the bearings are going bad.
